Children's Privacy Notice

This notice explains how TARK Learn handles student information when a parent invites a child to use the service.

Effective May 28, 2026

1. Parent-Led Student Onboarding

TARK Learn is designed for parent-led use. A parent creates a parent account, adds a learner with minimized student details, creates a learner code, and shares that code with the student. The student uses the learner code once to confirm the parent-created learner profile and create a learner ID and PIN. The student does not enter school details during setup, and TARK Learn does not require a student email address for this onboarding flow.

2. Parent Consent Notice

Before a learner code is created, the parent or legal guardian is shown a consent statement that describes the student information TARK Learn collects, how it is used, that student data is not sold or used for behavioral advertising, and how the parent can request review, correction, deletion, or refusal of further use. The parent account must use a verified email before learner setup. If a parent does not consent, the parent should not create a learner code.

3. Student Information Collected

  • Parent-provided student first name, last initial, grade, selected school reference, AP subjects, learner-code metadata, learner ID, and hashed PIN data.
  • Learning activity, including answers, drafts, attempts, code submissions, practice history, mistake patterns, and mastery signals.
  • Uploaded notes or files when a student or parent uses the notes feature.
  • Generated study packs, flashcards, harder practice, recovery tasks, parent summaries, and related AI job metadata.
  • Security and service logs needed to protect student accounts, diagnose failures, and operate the product.

4. How Student Information Is Used

  • Provide student access through a learner ID and PIN.
  • Generate personalized study packs, practice, review tasks, explanations, and progress signals.
  • Show parents readiness, weak skills, uploaded-note activity, and support prompts.
  • Send parent progress summaries by email only when the parent preference is enabled, the address is not suppressed, and TARK has enabled the admin sending switch.
  • Maintain safety, security, reliability, abuse prevention, and operational support.

5. Disclosure of Student Information

We do not sell student personal information or use it for behavioral advertising. Student information may be processed by service providers that host, authenticate, store, queue, log, secure, or generate requested learning content. Authorized TARK support personnel may access student information only for support, safety, debugging, operations, or compliance needs.

6. Parent Rights

Parents can contact us to:

  • Review the student information associated with their family account.
  • Ask us to correct or delete student information.
  • Refuse further collection or use of student information by closing or disabling the student profile.
  • Pause or opt out of parent progress emails and weekly digest messages.
  • Ask questions about subprocessors, AI processing, retention, or security controls.

Send requests to privacy@tarklearn.com. We may need to verify that the requester is the parent or legal guardian connected to the family account before acting on a request.

7. School or Classroom Use

TARK Learn is currently built around family-controlled use. If TARK Learn is later used by a school, district, teacher, or other education institution, that use should be covered by a separate written agreement that defines roles, permitted educational purposes, data handling, and any FERPA or school privacy obligations.

8. Data Minimization

Student onboarding uses a first name and last initial rather than a full legal name. ZIP codes are used only as searchable school-directory reference data and are not stored as a student's home ZIP code. Students and parents should upload only the learning materials needed for study. Do not upload medical records, financial records, government IDs, private family documents, or other sensitive information that is not needed for the learning task.

9. Retention and Deletion

Used learner setup codes remove the visible setup-code value after redemption, and expired codes are cleaned by retention operations. Parents can delete a learner profile from the parent dashboard, which removes the learner's app-level uploads, generated study packs, attempts, progress, and setup history. Some security logs and backups may remain for a limited period where needed for security, legal, or disaster-recovery purposes.
